Abstract
Assessment instruments are a key component of learning, including the assessment of scientific creativity, and therefore assessment instruments are needed to measure students’ levels of scientific creativity. However, evidence from the field shows that assessment instruments for scientific creativity in science education have not yet been widely developed. This study aims to develop a scientific creativity assessment instrument focused on environmental issues and to determine the validity, reliability, discriminative power, and difficulty level of the instrument. The metod used in this study is the Borg and Gall (1983) development model. This model consist of ten stages, however this research only applied eight stages, namely: identifying potential problems, collecting information, product design, product validation, product revision, small group testing, product revision, and field testing. This subject of this study were 105 seventh-grade students from classes VII A, VII B, VII C at Junior High School 2 Kalisat Jember. The result of the product validation conducted by three expert validators obtained an average score of 73.2%, categorized as valid. The validation test results for all seven developed items showed that rcalculated > rtable, indicating that the items were valid. The reliability coefficient of the test was 0.78, categorized as reliable. The item discrimination analysis of the seven questions revealed that two items were in the good category and five items were in the sufficient category. The results of the trial of the environmental-based scientific creativity assesment instrument in this study indicate that the developed assesment instrument is feasible for use in science learning.
