Abstract

Stink bugs (Leptocorisa oratorius) is one of the main pests affecting rice crops in Indonesia and often causes serious losses in cultivation. Chemical control is difficult to implement and is not environmentally friendly, so an alternative, more integrated and sustainable approach is needed, one of which is through the use of the entomopathogenic Beauveria bassiana. However, the effectiveness of B. bassiana is greatly influenced by environmental factors such as temperature and sun exposure, which can reduce its viability and inhibit its effectiveness in the field. To overcome this, a formulation is needed that can protect the conidia from abiotic conditions, one of which is through encapsulation using chitosan, which is biodegradable, biocompatible, and safe for fungi. The method used in this study was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD). The mortality test results showed a significant difference between the untreated B. bassiana fungus and the encapsulated B. bassiana. The highest mortality was found in treatment K1 (B. bassiana fungus without chitosan encapsulation) with 92,50% and encapsulation treatment K4 (B. bassiana fungus with 4:1 encapsulation) with 82,50% mortality. The results of the mycosis test showed the highest treatment in K1 (B. bassiana fungus without chitosan encapsulation) which was 92,50%. The results of the mummification test on stink bugs were found in treatment K1 (B. bassiana fungus without chitosan encapsulation) with a percentage of 70,00% and K4 (B. bassiana fungus with 4:1 encapsulation) with 62,50%. The LT₅₀ test results showed that treatment K1 (B. bassiana fungus without chitosan encapsulation), namely B. bassiana without encapsulation, had the fastest value of 5,20 days.
