Abstract
Plant biodiversity is an essential competence that helps students understand and appreciate plant diversity and its rile in ecosystems. However, learning pratices in elementary schools are often still conventional and not well integrated with students’s real-life experiences. This study aimed to develop RBL-STEM learning tools to improve student’s plant biodiversity literacy through the fun urban horizontal farming class.
This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) The developed products cosisted of a teaching module and student worksheets integrating plant biodiversity learning with urban farming activities using wick hydroponic system. The subject were 26 fifth-grade students of SDN Tegal Besar 04.
The result showed that the developed learning tools were categorized as very valid, practical, and effective, A total of 80,77% of students achieved the minimun mastery score, and statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes (Sig. = 000). Therefore, RBL-STEM learning tools are effective in improving plant biodiversity literacy and can support environmentally integrated STEM learning.
