Abstract
In general, post-harvest coffee processing machines use LPG materials
which are a type of non-renewable energy. Coffee production in large quantities
results in the accumulation of coffee husk waste if it is not managed properly. This
study aims to analyze biogas production from coffee husk waste and analyze the
characteristics of residues produced after the anaerobic fermentation process is
completed which includes pH, COD, and BOD values. This study was conducted by
comparing the results of biogas production from coffee husk waste without
Pretreatment with coffee husks from chemical Pretreatment. The data obtained was
analyzed to calculate the efficiency of the value of the residual characteristics. The
results of the study showed that the production of biogas from chemical
Pretreatment coffee bark waste produced more biogas and greater efficiency of
depreciation of residue characteristics. In the coffee skin, chemical Pretreatment
can produce 13.41 liters of biogas with the longest gas combustion duration of 51
seconds. On coffee skins without biogas Pretreatment, the resulting 11.47 liters with
a maximum gas burning duration of 42 seconds. This research shows that the
production of biogas from chemical Pretreatment coffee husks is more effective to
produce biogas.
