Abstract

Chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis often experience physical and mental disturbances and question the meaning and purpose of life, which can reduce their quality of life. Improving quality of life can be achieved by addressing spiritual health. Research on the relationship between spiritual health and quality of life in hemodialysis patients is still limited. Therefore, the researcher is interested in investigating this relationship in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. The study employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was obtained using total sampling, consisting of 99 respondents. Data were collected using the Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure (SHALOM) and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis using Kendall’s Tau-b statistical test. Results showed that 69 (69.7%) participants had high spiritual health, with an average total quality of life score of 57.80. Bivariate analysis revealed a p-value of 0.011 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between spiritual health and quality of life. Enhancing spiritual health can improve quality of life, and addressing spiritual needs is beneficial for developing effective healthcare services for hemodialysis patients. It is crucial for healthcare services to address spiritual health to enhance quality of life. This study concludes that there is a significant relationship between spiritual health and quality of life in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember.
