Abstract

The ability to recognise letters among Group A children at TK Kartika IX-35 Jember is still relatively low, indicating the need for an alternative learning medium that is concrete and engaging. One such medium is the 3D puzzle, which can support the learning process by stimulating children’s creativity and strengthening their memory. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing 3D puzzle media on letter recognition among Group A children at TK Kartika IX-35 Jember. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pattern. The research subjects were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received treatment through the use of 3D puzzle media, while the control group was taught using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through observation and tests measuring children’s letter recognition ability before the treatment (pretest) and after the treatment (posttest). The results of the study indicate that the use of 3D puzzle media has a significant effect on the letter recognition ability of group A children. This is demonstrated by the higher average score achieved by the experimental group, which reached 92.0 in the posttest, compared to the control group’s average score of 62.5. These findings are further supported by the results of the Independent Sample T-test, which showed a significance value (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000. This indicates that the implementation of 3D puzzle media significantly influences the letter recognition ability of Group A children at TK Kartika IX-35 Jember.
