Abstract
Service of antibiotics without a prescription is a form of antibiotic misuse
which can cause antibiotic resistance problems. Pharmacists have an important
role in preventing antibiotic misuse. Pharmacy staff knowledge of antibiotics can
impact appropriate dispensing practices. This study aims to assess pharmacy
staff's knowledge about antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, and the practice of
providing non-prescription antibiotic services, as well as identifying factors that
influence non-prescription antibiotic services in Lumajang Regency pharmacies.
A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted using a questionnaire among
pharmacy officers in Lumajang Regency which includes Lumajang District,
Sukodono District, and Tekung District. The results of this study show that the
average knowledge of pharmacy staff in Lumajang Regency is 7.16. A total of
90.91% of pharmacy staff stated that they had never provided antibiotics without
a prescription. The main factor driving this practice is knowing the risk of
