Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on
Think Pair Share (TPS) on increasing the critical thinking skills of junior high
school students in science. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with
a population of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Jember. Samples were
taken using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in the selection of class VII
C as the experimental class and VII A as the control class. The test instrument
consisted of essay questions covering six critical thinking indicators on the topic of
motion and force. The results showed that the average posttest score of the
experimental class (81.19) was higher than that of the control class (76.75). The N-
Gain test result for the experimental class was 0.525, categorized as moderate,
indicating a more significant increase compared to the control class (0.422). Based
on the Right-Sided t-test, it was found that tcount (2.278) > ttable (1.696). It can be
concluded that the use of TPS-based LKPD has a significant effect on improving
the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in science learning.
