Abstract
The researcher analyzed the politeness strategies in the ELT textbook for
the seventh grade of junior high school students that was published by the
Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia. The expressions of 16 dialogue
texts in the textbook entitled English for Nusantara were analyzed by using Brown
and Levinson‟s (1987) politeness strategies.
