Abstract
Organic fertilizers play an important role in soil properties and increasing
plant productivity. Provisions regarding organic fertilizer quality standards have
been regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of
Indonesia No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019 concerning organic fertilizers,
biological fertilizers, and soil conditioners. Although the regulations have been
established and approved, many organic fertilizer qualities still do not meet the
requirements. This study aims to produce solid organic fertilizer quality based on
applicable regulations. This study began with a survey and sampling of organic
fertilizers spread across Java in solid form, granules, or crumbs. The parameters
analyzed included shape, aroma, color, percentage of grain size, percentage of byproducts, volume weight, percentage of air content, pH value, percentage of
organic carbon, percentage of Total-N, P2O5, and K2O nutrients, and Zn content
in organic fertilizers. The results showed that three organic fertilizer samples, or
10.71% of 28 solid organic fertilizer samples, followed the applicable Regulation
of the Minister of Agriculture No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019 The limiting factors
of this unsuitability come from the variation of low and high water content
percentage, high Zn concentration, high by-product content, low organic carbon
percentage, high C/N ratio, low total percentage of suitable grain size, and low pH
in solid organic fertilizer.
