Abstract
Problem solving skills of junior high school students in Indonesia are still relatively
low, the cause of the low is because the teaching materials used are still not
specifically focused on improving problem solving skills. The purpose of this study
was to examine the validity, effectiveness, and practicality aspects of the module in
learning. This module was developed based on the need for teaching materials that
are not only able to strengthen conceptual understanding, but can also connect
motion and force material with local culture, especially Banyuwangi Regency. The
method used is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model
development design which includes analyze, design, develop, implement, and
evaluate. Data collection techniques used module validation sheets, learning
implementation sheets, pre-test and post-test questions and student response
questionnaires. The results of the study showed that: (1) the ethnoscience-based
module obtained a content validity score of 95%, which indicates a "very valid"
category; (2) the practicality score reached 87.5%, indicating that this module is
easy to use by teachers and students; and (3) the student response questionnaire
score for the module reached 81.67%, indicating a positive response from students.
In conclusion, the ethnoscience-based module is considered effective and suitable
for use in improving problem-solving skills of junior high school students.
