Abstract
Character education based on culture emphasizes that culture is understood as something
inherited or learned until it becomes new knowledge. The purpose of this research is to
identify the character education values contained in the Orek-orek dance of Ngawi and to
describe the utilization of the local wisdom of the Orek-orek dance as teaching material
for fourth-grade students at Karangbanyu 1 Elementary School in Ngawi. The research
design used is a qualitative research design with a descriptive type of research. The
subjects of the study are students in class IV A at SDN Karangbanyu 01 Ngawi. Data
collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The data
analysis technique uses descriptive research data analysis techniques, which involve data
collection, data presentation, data reduction, and conclusion drawing. The results of the
research show that there are 5 character values in the Orek-orek dance, namely religious
value, discipline value, hard work value, friendly/communicative value, and responsibility
value. The analysis results of these character values are used as teaching material for the
IPAS subject, which is "Indonesia Kaya Budayanya" for fourth-grade students at
Karangbanyu 1 Elementary School in Ngawi. This provides an impact in the form of
increased student enthusiasm for learning and a more meaningful understanding of the
Orek-orek dance culture and its character values.
