Abstract

The increment of yield potential in crops like common beans can be achieved using Maxipro varieties. However, low quality soil such as inceptisol which have poor fertility can be a problem to deal with. Vermicompost fertilizer is beneficial for enhancing soil properties and can be used to overcome this issue. Additionally, adding gibberellin hormone can boost plant growth and yield. This study was conducted from May to August 2024 at experimental field, Faculty of Agriculture, Jember University, to evaluate the effects of vermicompost doses and gibberellin concentrations on common beans. The research using 2 factor randomized group design, vermicompost doses (0, 0.4, 1, 1.6 kg per polybag) and gibberellin concentrations (0, 19, 29, 39 ppm) that consists of 3 groups. Variables observed included plant height, leaves number,leaf area, age of flowering, number of flower, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, plant wet weight, plant dry weight, and yield potential. The results showed that there was an interaction between the dose of vermicompost fertilizer and gibberellin concentration on plant height variables. However, the dosage of vermicompost fertilizer and gibberellin concentration do not interact or indeppendently affect on number of leaves, leaf area, flowering age, number of flowers, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, and yield potential variable.
