Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that huge biodiversity, one of which is ferns (Pteridophyta). Ferns are often found in humid environments such as tropical rainforests. Meru Betiri National Park is one of the national parks that has environmental conditions that support the growth of ferns, one of which is the Watu Ondo Block, Wonoasri Resort. However, there is no data on the types of Pteridophyta that grow in the area. This study aims to identify the kinds of Pteridophyta based on the morphology in the Watu Ondo Block and to compile a validated high school biology learning module. The method used is an exploration method with a cruising technique along the right and left sides of the river from the starting point to the second Watu Ondo waterfall, with each waterfall being 500 meters long and 5 meters wide from the river bank towards the mainland. The research was conducted from July to September 2024, from sampling to identification. Data were obtained from field sampling, morphological identification, abiotic factor measurements, and module validation. The research results showed that 17 species of ferns (Pteridophyta) from 8 families were found, and the abiotic factor values were still within the optimal range for the growth of ferns. Validation of the high school biology learning module produced an average value of 85,97%, with a category that is very suitable for use.
