Abstract

The understanding of the use of punctuation in writing descriptive texts is still not well mastered by students due to the limited learning media used. This condition indicates the need for innovation through the development of flash card and still picture learning media which are expected to help students understand the use of punctuation correctly and improve their writing skills according to language rules. It is also hoped that these learning media will be able to foster students' interest and motivation in learning so that the learning process becomes more effective and enjoyable. The purpose of this study was to determine the development process, validity, effectiveness and practicality of flash card and still picture learning media. The research method used was the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model with 20 class V students of SDN Banjarsengon 02 Jember as the research subjects. The product validity test obtained a score of 80% with a feasible category, the effectiveness test using a learning outcome test obtained a score of 80% with an effective category, and the practicality test using a student response questionnaire obtained a score of 92.1% with a very practical category. Based on this test, flash card and still picture media can be declared valid, effective, and practical, so that they can be applied in the learning process.
