Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is crucial for students to solve mathematical problems. Mathematical representation consists of three dimensions of representation, namely visual, symbolic, and verbal. However, students’ mathematical representation ability was still relatively low. Learning innovation was needed to address this issue. The aim of this research is to develop learning media assisted by GeoGebra Classroom to improve students’ mathematical representation ability. This research used a research and development method (R&D) which referred to the 4D model which consists of four stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The development trial was conducted on 35 student of class X-5 at SMAN 1 Pasuruan. The instrument of this research were validation sheets, student response sheets, and learning outcomes test sheets. The data analysis technique of this research used descriptive quantitative. The result of this research showed that validity of learning media was 0,87 which was in very high criteria and practicalityof learning media was 85% which was in good criteria. The improvement of students’ mathematical representation ability was explained as follows: a) visual representation was 0,86 which was in high criteria; b) symbolic representation was 0,75 which was in high criteria; and c) verbal representation was 0,79 which was in high criteria. These improvements indicated that learning media was effective. Thus, learning media assisted by GeoGebra Classroom was considered as valid, pratical, and effective
