Optimalisasi Potensi Dan Pemanfaatan Artificial Intelligence Dalam Pembelajaran Sejarah

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in history learning by educators and students, analyze the benefits and constraints of its use, and identify strategies for optimizing the use of AI in history learning at SMA Negeri 2 Tanggul. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. The research informants consisted of the Vice Principal for Curriculum, history teachers, and students who were selected purposively. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model which includes data data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was tested using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the study indicate that AI has been utilized by teachers to support the preparation of learning tools, search for references, create learning media, and compile evaluations, while students use AI to obtain information, deepen their understanding of historical material, and assist in completing assignments. The use of AI provides benefits in the form of increased learning effectiveness, ease of access to information, and increased creativity and learning motivation of students. However, its utilization still faces obstacles such as limited internet infrastructure, uneven distribution of teachers' digital competencies, potential student dependence on AI, and the need to verify AI-generated information. Optimization strategies include improving teachers' digital competencies, strengthening students' digital literacy, providing adequate facilities and infrastructure, implementing ethical AI practices, and utilizing AI proportionally to support learning without replacing the role of teachers. Research findings indicate that the use of AI has the potential to improve the quality of history learning if supported by adequate human resource readiness, infrastructure, and school policies.
