Karakteristik Fisikokimia Biochar Kulit Edamame dengan Variasi Temperatur Pirolisis

Abstract

Edamame pod waste is a promising agricultural biomass for biochar production through pyrolysis. This study evaluated the effect of pyrolysis temperatures of 325°C, 350°C, and 375°C on biochar yield, fixed carbon content, and pH using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Bartlett homogeneity test, and one-way ANOVA at a 5% significance level. The results showed that increasing pyrolysis temperature significantly decreased biochar yield from 42.8% to 34.5% (p = 0.001). In contrast, pyrolysis temperature had no significant effect on fixed carbon content (80.68–85.16%; p = 0.341), and all biochar samples met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 06-3730-1995). Biochar pH increased from 8.90 to 9.85 with increasing temperature, although the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.0724). Overall, pyrolysis temperature significantly affected biochar yield but did not significantly influence the fixed carbon content or pH of edamame pod biochar within the temperature range of 325–375°C.
