Abstract
Declining production in mature wells at the RA-01 Field has become a challenge in maintaining stable oil output. The artificial lift system currently applied, namely the sucker rod pump, shows decreasing performance, particularly under high water cut conditions and declining reservoir pressure. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the existing SRP in Well X and Well Y and to assess the feasibility of replacing it with an electric submersible pump to optimize well performance. The methodology includes volumetric efficiency calculation, inflow performance relationship analysis using the productivity index method, and screening for ESP application. The results show that the volumetric efficiency of SRP is relatively low, at 32% for Well X and 58% for Well Y, indicating suboptimal performance. IPR analysis shows that the maximum production rate Qmax is 159.27 BFPD for Well X and 88.3 BFPD for Well Y, which are higher than the current production rates. Based on the screening results, both wells meet the technical criteria for ESP application. ESP design was carried out for several production scenarios, and the optimum design was obtained at approximately 85% of Qmax, resulting in designed production rates of 135.75 BFPD for Well X and 75.47 BFPD for Well Y. Nodal analysis indicates that the operating points of the designed ESP systems are stable and remain within the reservoir inflow capability. The results indicate that the use of ESP can provide better performance compared to the existing SRP, reflected by higher designed production rates under stable operating conditions. Therefore, ESP is considered a suitable alternative artificial lift method for optimizing well performance in the RA-01 Field.
