Pemberdayaan Masyarakat di UD. Rejo Desa Gumeng Kecamatan Bungah Kabupaten Gresik

Abstract

Community empowerment is a strategic step in increasing the capacity and economic independence of the community. One form of empowerment can be done through MSMEs, such as the shrimp paste business of UD. Rejo in Gumeng Village, Bungah District, Gresik Regency. This study aims to descripe the stages of community empowerment at UD. Rejo. This study use a qualitative approach with phenomenological analysis. The research location is at UD. Rejo Gumeng Village, Bungah Dstrict, Gresik Regency. Research partisipants include bussiness owners, workers, and former workers of UD. Rejo who have established their own shrimp paste business. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documents. Then the analysis used phenomenological analysis Creswell & Poth (2018). Validity testing used source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that there are three stages of empowerment, namely the awareness stage, the capability transformation stage, and the intellectual ability and skill improvement stage. The awareness stage is carried out by provising direct information and inviting the community to join UD. Rejo, providing an understanding of the importance of skills to improve their economic conditions. The capability transformation stage is carried out through training and mentoring in production and marketing. Furthermore, the intellectual capacity building stage is carried out by providing opportunities and trust to workers so they can become independent in their work and even start similar business. In conclusion, community empowerment at UD. Rejo not only provides employment opportunities and increased income but also increases community capacity, independent, and well-being.
