Hubungan Managemen Perawatan Diri dengan Perilaku Pencegahan Komplikasi pada Petani Penderita Hipertensi di Wilayah Puskesmas Panti Kabupaten Jember

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease with an increasing prevalence, particularly among farmers who are at high risk due to lifestyle factors and occupational exposure. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between self-care management and complication prevention behavior among hypertensive farmers in the working area of Panti Public Health Center, Jember Regency. This research employed an observational design with a cross-sectional approach and a purposive sampling technique involving 152 respondents. The instruments used were the Hypertension Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire (HSMBQ) and the Hypertension Complication Prevention Behavior Questionnaire. The results showed that most respondents had poor self-care management (94.7%) and inadequate complication prevention behavior (57.2%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between self-care management and complication prevention behavior (p-value = 0.000; r = 0.281), indicating that better self-care management was associated with improved complication prevention behavior. This study concludes that self-care management plays an important role in supporting complication prevention behavior among hypertensive farmers. Strengthening continuous education and self-care support programs focused on hypertension management is recommended, particularly for farmers with low educational backgrounds.
