Pengaruh Jumlah Bibit per Lubang Tanam dan Konsentrasi Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Tanaman Padi (Oryza sativa L.) pada Lahan Salin

Abstract

Saline land is a type of marginal land with high salt content, which can inhibit growth and reduce the yield of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Efforts to increase rice productivity on saline land can be made by adjusting the number of plants per clump and applying Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). This study aimed to determine the effect of the interaction between the number of plants per clump and PGPR concentration, the effect of PGPR concentration, and the effect of the number of plants per clump on the growth and yield of rice on saline land. The study was conducted from August to December 2025 on saline land in Kepanjen Village, Gumukmas Subdistrict, Jember Regency, using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: the number of plants per clump (6, 9, and 12 plants) and PGPR concentration (0, 10, 15, and 20 mL/L), each repeated three times, resulting in 36 experimental units. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% significance level when significant effects were found. The results showed that the interaction between the number of plants per clump and PGPR concentration had a significant effect on dry grain weight, the number of filled grains, the number of empty grains, and root length. The best treatment combination was obtained with 6 plants per clump and 15 mL/L PGPR (P1B2) for dry grain weight, and 9 plants per clump and 15 mL/L PGPR (P2B2) for the number of grains PGPR treatment had a significant effect on plant height, the number of tillers per clump, the number of filled grains, and the weight of 100 seeds, while the number of plants per clump had a significant effect on most growth and yield parameters. In general, planting 6 plants per clump with 15 mL/L PGPR yielded the best response in terms of rice plant growth and yield on saline land, making it a potential cultivation technique to increase rice productivity under saline soil conditions.
