    THE EFFECT OF THE DEATH OF A WOMAN TOWARD THE WAR AMONG THE CATTLEMEN IN HENRY’S THE FOURTH HORSEMAN

    Abstract
    Literature is human creation as the medium to express beauty through language both in spoken and written fields. Language is very important as the way of communication. Sometimes, it is easy for some people to express their feeling and thoughts orally, while for people who do not have enough ability to express their feelings and thoughts, literature is the best way. The Fourth Horseman tells about the life of the cattlemen in Peaceful Basin, Arizona. Their lives are not only taking care and breeding the cattles but also having their relationships with women. As the main character Libby Fewkes gives a big influence for them because she is the most beautiful woman in Peaceful Basin and almost all of the men like her and try to own her, especially. His destiny only wants to live with her happily. But, another cattleman takes her and makes her suffer. Her death influences the feud among them. The condition becomes worse and worse because there are many feuds rise from other cattlemen. These feuds finally result the war among them. The aim of the thesis is to analyze her influences to the war among the cattlemen and her relation with the other characters. The writer uses psychological approach to analyze it. In the research, deductive method is applied. The result of the discussion is that there are some conflicts among the men because of a woman. Key words: the cattlemen, Libby Fewkes, Frank Rachel, the war.
