Abstract
Scientific communication skill has a crucial role in the learning process of Natural Sciences. In reality, students' scientific communication skills in Indonesia are still low. Jember Regency has a lot of local potential from the agricultural sector, one of which is coconut commodities that are suitable as material for developing media on substances and their changes. Scientific communication skills can be improved through the use of Nearpod-based digital learning media for science learning on coconut shell processing, which is expected to provide meaningful contextual learning. The purpose of this study is to develop Nearpod based digital learning media for science learning on coconut shell processing that is valid, practical, and effective in improving scientific communication skills. This research method uses the ADDIE development model. Data collection instruments include validation sheets, implementation observation sheets, student response questionnaires, pre-tests, and post-tests. The validation results show that the media meets the validity criteria with a percentage of 95%. The implementation observation results meet the very practical criteria with a percentage of 81%. The N-gain calculation results showed a value of 0.61, which falls within the moderate criteria. The student response analysis results showed a value of 85%, which falls within the very good criteria. Based on the research results data, it can be concluded that the developed digital learning media is valid, practical, and effective in improving written communication skills in science learning.
