Pengembangan Media Komik Digital Enam Mantra Penyelidikan Detektif untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Narasi Peserta Didik Kelas IV SDN Bagorejo 3 Jember

Abstract

Reading comprehension is an essential skill that enables students to understand the content of a text comprehensively. Based on observations and interviews conducted at SDN Bagorejo 3 Jember, fourth-grade students experienced difficulties in understanding reading texts, identifying main ideas, and answering questions related to the texts. This study aimed to develop a digital comic entitled The Six Detective Investigation Spells and determine its validity, effectiveness, and practicality in improving students’ reading comprehension skills. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, consisting of Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate stages. The subjects were 17 fourth-grade students of SDN Bagorejo 3 Jember. Data were collected through observation, interviews, validation sheets, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the digital comic achieved a validity score of 85.4%, categorized as very valid. The effectiveness test obtained an N-Gain score of 0.61 with a moderate category and an N-Gain percentage of 61.38%, indicating that the media was sufficiently effective. Furthermore, the practicality test revealed that the media was categorized as very practical based on students’ positive responses. Therefore, the digital comic developed in this study is valid, effective, and practical for improving reading comprehension skills among fourth-grade elementary school students.
