Analisis Pengaruh Kondisi Operasi Terhadap Kinerja Injeksi Monoethylen Glycol dalam Mencegah Pembentukan Hydrate Pada Flowline

Abstract

Gas hydrate formation is a major flow assurance problem. It may obstruct fluid flow in gas production flowlines. This study analyzes the effect of operating pressure and Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) concentration on hydrate equilibrium temperature and evaluates the position of operating conditions relative to the hydrate stability zone based on subcooling values. Simulations were conducted using PVTsim Nova at pressures of 1200 psig, 1400 psig, 1600 psig, 1800 psig, 1900 psig and MEG concentration of 0,175 mol%; 0,195 mol%; 0,215 mol% with an additional concentration of 0,235 mol% for a crtitical condition. The results show that the increasing pressure raises the hydrate equilibrium emperature, whereas increasing MEG concentration lowers it. The operating condition of 1200 psig and 35°F required 0,235 mol% MEG to move outside the hydrate stability zone, while the condition of 1800 psig and 75°F, 1900 psig and 125°F were already outside the stability zone without MEG injection. Therefore, MEG concentration should be adjust according to the operating pressure, temperature, and subcooling value.
