THE ROLE OF WOMAN IN MITIGATION OF THE GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT
Abstract
Global climate change occurred as a consequence of globalisation. It cause the effect of environment chage globally and locally. The intensity of trading will bring the change behaviour of the people, consumtion pattern, industrial pattern in service ang manufacture. Interrelated with human behaviour, in using the technology which not notice the environment friendly, using fosil fuel which remain and illegal logging can cause the damage of environment which can cause global climate change. Woman is the part of human has important role in the effort in decreasing climate change effect and global warming. It’s having the same way with the goal of Millenium Development Goals (MDG’s) that consider in increasing the quality of woman’s life. This article aimed at discussing woman aspects especially in health involving decrease negative effect of
climate change. The method of this article used rational review through literature review
and logical thinking. The quality of life of Indonesia woman is increase. This is indicated
with the increasing in Gender Development Index (GDI). Base on Human Development
Report (HDR) 2007-2008, Indonesia’s GDI is 0,721. If it’s compared in 2006 is 0,704.
It’s indicated there are the increasing of the woman acsess in development, excepcially in
education, health, ang economy, which give effect a lot of opportunity for woman role in
order to decrise negative effect of climate change. In another way, woman has double
role, because of globlalisation, it cause increasing of economical needed that force woman taking the role in increasing family income with working out of domestic sector
(public sector). The involvement of woman both on domestic and public sector are called
double woman role. Beside that, in Indonesia woman has three roles : productive role,
reproductive role and role in society. So indonesian woman is to be front line in live
environment conservation which beginning at family level to important role in cultural
asset management.
