dc.description.abstract | Quality of life towards tobacco farmer is constructed by four domains. They are
physical health, psychological well-being, social relationship and condition of
environtment. These domains are always interacted and effected on tobacco
farmer’s life. Jember regency is one of the highest producer area of tobacco in
Indonesia. Most of the people have worked as tobacco farmer for long time ago.
This research aims to describe quality of life of tobacco farmers in Wuluhan Sub
District, Jember Regency. This research was applied by quantitative research
methods, descriptive-designed and cross sectional-approached. The population of
this research was all of tobacco farmers in Wuluhan Sub District. The numbers of
samples of this research were 97 farmers. The data were collected by using
questionairre then described verbally, mathematically and graphically. The
results showed that most of tobacco farmers were in productive-aged, low
educated, high-income and married. They became tobacco farmers because
assumed that tobacco would give high income. had tobacco land in their own,
planted tobacco in nselainarrow land and made cooperation with cigarette
industry. Besuki Na-Oogst was kind of tobacco that they planted widely. Beside
that, they had a worse quality of life (56,7%). There were three domains that
belonged to worse category. They were physical health (50,0%), psychological
well-being (61,05%) and condition of environtment (53,6%). Whereas, social
relationship was an only great domain. Based on the results, it is expected to
socialize all about Green Tobacco Sickness to tobacco farmers by Department of
Forestry and Estate Crops and Department of Health in Jember Regency. Farmer
groups need to make partnership with another industries besides cigarette
factories. It is also needed promotion about another seasonally alternative crops
that they are in the same cultivation periode with tobacco, like chili and melon. | en_US |
