Abstract
Sugarcane production is greatly influenced by the sugar content in sugarcane stalks
that are not evenly distributed in each stem segments. Variations in sugar content
between the top, middle, and bottom segmnts have the potential to affect the
accuracy of sugar production estimates. Therefore, this study aims to develop a
model for estimating sugarcane production based on the distribution of sugar
content in the stem segment. This research used a quantitative approach through
two stages. The first stage was carried out by taking data directly on sugarcane
stalks to obtain the relationship between the sugar content of the stem segment and
the whole sugar content using multiple linear regression. The second stage was
carried out through pure sugar dissolution experiments with mass variations to
obtain the relationship between whole sugar content and sugar production
estimates using simple linear regression. The two models are then combined
through a substitution process to form a model of sugar production estimation. The
results showed that each segment of the stem had a different contribution to whole
sugar levels, with the bottom segment having the greatest contribution. The
resulting model shows a positive linear relationship between whole sugar content
and sugar production, with an accuracy rate of 86,9%. These results show that the
stem segment distribution-based approach is more representative than the average
approach in the estimation of cane sugar production. The developed model can be
used as an initial estimation tool, although it still has limitations because it uses a
linear approach and has not taken into account external factors.
