Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the diversity and morphological characteristics of ferns (Pteridophyta) in the Bandealit Resort area of Meru Betiri National Park (TNMB), specifically from the Krecek block to the Beach block, and to evaluate the feasibility of utilizing these findings to develop a valid monograph book. This study applied a descriptive-explorative method combined with field surveys, specimen collection, morphological identification of plant organs (roots, stems, leaves, and sori), and herbarium preparation. Environmental abiotic factors supporting fern growth were also measured. The research findings discovered 10 encounters across 5 distinct fern species distributed across varying average altitudes of 10 meters, 12 meters, and 13 meters above sea level (masl). Abiotic measurements revealed highly supportive environmental conditions, including a soil pH of 6.5, soil moisture of 6.5%, an average wind speed of 31.96 m/s, and low-to-moderate light intensities averaging 1,209 Lux, 1,507 Lux, and 246 Lux. The gathered taxonomic and ecological data were successfully compiled into a monograph book. Based on the assessment by expert validators, the developed monograph book achieved a highly valid and feasible rating, indicating that it is appropriate and reliable to be used as an educational resource for students and a reference guide for the general public. Keywords: Ferns (Pteridophyta), Identification, Morphology, Meru Betiri National Park, Monograph Book.
