Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation and learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning at SDN Pucanganom 01 Bondowoso. Preliminary observations revealed that the learning process was predominantly conducted through lecture-based methods with limited instructional media, resulting in a teacher-centered classroom environment that was less engaging for students. Consequently, students tended to be passive, less enthusiastic, easily bored, and experienced difficulties in understanding the learning materials, particularly the concept of force. Initial data indicated that 20 out of 28 students had not achieved the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of 75. This study aimed to describe the improvement of students’ learning motivation and learning outcomes through the implementation of flashcard media. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Hopkins model, which was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 28 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, tests, and documentation, while quantitative data analysis was carried out using mean scores and percentage calculations. The findings demonstrated that the implementation of flashcard media successfully improved students’ learning motivation, as evidenced by an increase in the average score from a low initial condition to 75.36 in Cycle I (good category) and further to 88.26 in Cycle II (very high category), with a mastery percentage reaching 96%. Students’ learning outcomes also showed significant improvement, increasing from 28.6% mastery in the pre-action stage to 50% in Cycle I with an average score of 73.57, and reaching 100% mastery in Cycle II with an average score of 92.5. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of flashcard media is effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation and learning outcomes in IPAS learning, particularly on the topic of forces in everyday life.
