Abstract
This study aims to analyze the comparative structural performance between
bubble deck slabs and solid concrete slabs in a slab-on-pile system applied to the
Patimban Access Toll Road Project Package 2. The research is motivated by the
need to reduce the self-weight of the structure and material usage in conventional
slabs, which impacts construction costs and environmental load.
The method used is a numerical analysis based on the Finite Element
Method (FEM) with the assistance of Abaqus software. Slab models with
dimensions of 12.7 m × 5 m were analyzed using pinned–fixed boundary conditions
and subjected to dead loads, additional dead loads, and traffic loads. The
parameters evaluated include deflection, bending stress, and reduction of
structural self-weight.
The results indicate that the bubble deck slab has a deflection of 2.987 mm.
This value is relatively close to that of the solid concrete slab, which is 2.798 mm.
In addition, the bubble deck slab is able to reduce the structural self-weight by
3.457% compared to the solid concrete slab, while maintaining relatively
comparable structural performance which is 6,75%.
Thus, the bubble deck slab can be considered an efficient and sustainable
alternative for slab structures, particularly in toll road construction using slab-on
pile systems under soft soil conditions.
