Pengembangan Media Diorama Tambak Garam untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a salt pan diorama in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. This research was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Kranjingan 03 Jember and the limited availability of contextual and engaging learning media for students. This study utilized the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The research subjects were 26 fourth-grade students at SDN Kranjingan 03 Jember. The research instruments included validation sheets, learning implementation observation sheets, and critical thinking skills tests covering indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. The results showed that the developed diorama possessed an excellent level of validity, with an average validation score of 4.30 and a test instrument validation score of 4.45. The practicality level achieved an average score of 4.84, falling into the "highly practical" criterion. The product's effectiveness was demonstrated by an N-gain score of 0.53, categorized as moderate, while the indicators for analysis scored 0.53, evaluation 0.60, interpretation 0.37, inference 0.54, and explanation 0.55, all of which were in the moderate category. Based on these findings, the developed salt pan diorama is considered valid, practical, and effective in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students.
