Abstract
This study aims to determine counselors' perceptions regarding the forms of professional and emotional support they receive and provide in handling cases of sexual violence at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) in Jember Regency. This research is motivated by the increasing number of cases of sexual violence in Jember Regency. This study uses the social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckman with 3 dialectical processes: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Informants in this study included the Head of UPTD PPA, Counselors, Support Staff, and victims of sexual violence. Data collection used observation, interviews, and documentation. Triangulation of sources, techniques, and theories was used to ensure the validity of the data. Data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that support between counselors is formed through daily work interactions in the form of sharing information, coordinating case handling, providing mutual advice, emotional support, and sharing tasks when dealing with complex cases. This support helps counselors reduce psychological stress, maintain emotional stability, strengthen teamwork, and enhance professionalism in assisting victims. For victims, the support provided by counselors creates a sense of security, comfort, and trust, allowing them to be more open in sharing their experiences and better understand the case management process.
