Abstract
Nurse professionalism is an important role in the healing process of
patients. Nursing services must meet the needs and demands of the community in
providing health services professionally. This study was conducted to determine
the relationship between the efficacy and professionalism of ED nurses in
hospitals in Jember Regency. This research is quantitative research with
correlational research design with a cross-sectional method. The sampling
technique used total sampling technique with a sample of 56 nurses. The results of
this study indicate that the average efficacy of nurses at the ED is 27.75 from a
minimum value of 17 and a maximum value of 40. The average value of
professionalism of nurses in three hospitals in Jember Regency is 61.91. The
results of the bivariate analysis of nurses' self-efficacy with the professionalism of
ED nurses using the Spearman test obtained a P value of 0.638 (p> α) which
means there is no relationship between the efficacy of nurses and the
professionalism of nurses in the hospital emergency room in Jember Regency.
This can be caused due to the high need or workload of nurses which causes
nurses to experience burnout or work stress, which can affect the decline in the
level of professionalism of nurses. Hospitals can pay attention to the factors that
can affect the professionalism of nurses so that nurses can increase
professionalism in work such as motivation, education, training, and length of
work.
