Hubungan tipe kepribadian dengan kejadian hipertensi di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Jenggawah Kebupaten Jember
Abstract
Hypertension is a degenerative disease that can cause sudden death.
Hypertension is a silent killer disease. Factors of hypertension are lifestyle
(alcohol, smoking), obesity (overweight), lack of exercise, heredity, stress and
personality type. There was no study about corellation personality type with
hypertension, so the aim of the study to analyze the corellation of persoanlity type
and hypertention. The dependent varible was personality type, the independent
variable was hypertension. The design of ths study is analytical survey with a case
control approach. The sample of the study was 168 samples consisting of 84
control samples and 84 case samples, and recuited by purposive sampling. The
data collected using by the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ)
questionnaire. The data analysed using by Chi square test with level signification
0.05. Results of the analysis showed that 57 respondents were introverted, and
27 respondents were extroverted, and there was a corellation of personality type
and hypertension in the work area of Jenggawah Public Health Center, Jember
Regency (P value <0.001). Personality type influence individual coping and stress
management. Stress influenced cortisol hormone as a factor of hypertension. In
the future study should better to analyze coping factor in the work area of
Jenggawah Public Health Center, Jember Regency.
