HUBUNGAN PEMENUHAN KEBUTUHAN SPIRITUAL DENGAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN PASIEN PRA OPERASI DI RUMAH SAKIT DAERAH dr. SOEBANDI JEMBER
Abstract
Elective or emergency surgery is a stressful, complex event, so in addition to
physical disorder, it will bring psychological problems. The surgical procedure
will always be preceded by emotional reaction from the patient, such as anxiety.
One of the nurse roles in pre-operation phase is to help patient cope with his/her
anxiety, assessing physical and psychological needs including patient’s spiritual
needs to reduce or lower the level of anxiety (Nursalam, 2002).This research was
intended to analyze the relationship between the fulfillment of spiritual needs and
pre-operative patient anxiety level at RSD (Local Public Hospital) dr.Soebandi
Jember. The research design was correlation with cross sectional approach.
Sampling technique used was total purposive sampling, involving the number of
samples of pre-surgery patients from April to May 2012 that met the inclusion
criteria. Data were analyzed using nonparametric statistical test chi-square. Data
collection instruments were in form of questionnaire used as interview guide, so
that the data obtained were primary data. Validity and reliability tests applied
Pearson Product Moment and Cronbach Alpha test. The research results showed
that 19 (70.4%) pre-operation patients were with satisfied spiritual needs; 16
people (84.2%) experienced light anxiety, while 3 people (15.8%) experienced fair
anxiety. 8 (29.6%) pre-surgery patients were with unsatisfied spiritual needs; 2
patients (25%) experienced mild anxiety, and 6 people (75%) had fair anxiety and
no one was experiencing hard anxiety. The research was processed through
computerized technique of SPPS using chi-square test with fisher exact. This
research showed that the hypothesis test lower
than α (0.05) was p value of 0.006.
Statistically, there is significant correlation between fulfillment of spiritual needs
and pre-operative patient anxiety level at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember.
