PERBEDAAN DEPRESI REMAJA SISWI SMA NEGERI DESA DAN KOTA DAERAH AGRARIS DI KABUPATEN JEMBER

Abstract

Depression is prolonged mood disorder. Depression in adolescence disrupts thinking, feeling, and behavior. This research was intended to identify differences in adolescent depression in female students of state senior high schools in rural and urban in agrarian area in Jember Regency. Beck Depression Inventories II (BDI-II) was a measurement to assess depression, consisted of 21 items including 15 items to describe emotional and behavioral changes, and 6 items to describe somatic symptoms. BDI-II used to assessment for both of group (rural and urban). This research was an observational analytic study using cross sectional approach. Sampling technique used simple random sampling with 46 samples divided into 2 groups: 25 young women living in the rural area and 21 young women living in the urban area. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test with alpha = 0.05. Based on the research results, it was found that 19 respondents (76%) were detected to have depression and 6 respondents (24%) without depression at state senior high schools located in rural in agrarian area, while 8 respondents (38.1%) were detected with depression and 13 respondents (24%) without depression at state senior high schools located in urban in agrarian area (p= 0.021). The result of this research is that there is difference in adolescent depression in female students of state senior high schools in rural and urban in agrarian area in Jember Regency.
