PERBEDAAN TINGKAT STRES PADA LANSIA YANG BERTEMPAT TINGGAL DI RUMAH DAN DI UPT PELAYANAN SOSIAL LANJUT USIA BONDOWOSO
Abstract
Stress is external event and circumstances that weighed the individual’s
environmental adaptation ability, especially in the form of emotional and
psychological burden. Prolonged stress could be bad for the erderly health. The
environment that did not fit the needs of the erderly caused stress that might
impact on the erderly health. The study aims to analyze the differences on stress
level of erderly living at home and at Bondowoso erderly social service unit. The
study was a comparative descriptive study with cross sectional approaches. The
population was 208 erderly living at home and 90 erderly living at Bondowoso
erderly social service unit. Samples were 46 erderly with 23 elderly resided at
home and 23 erderly resided at Bondowoso erderly social service unit,
determined by simple random sampling technique. Data was analyzed by chi
square statistic test. The result showed that most of erderly resided in the house
(56,5%) had mild stress while most of erderly resided at Bondowoso erderly
social service unit (56,5%) had high stress. Analysis of data in the study with chi
square test resulted in p value=0,004 (α=0,05) so Ho is rejected. The study
concluded there were differences on stress level of erderly living at home and at
Bondowoso erderly social service unit. The differences on the stress level of the
erderly was caused by family support and self-adjustment to the changes that
happened in the erderly living. Suggestion of this research is families should give
more support and encouragement to the erderly so the erderly can improve their
quality of life.
