Education in modern era is one of the important requirements for people in all countries, and Indonesia is
no exception. Educational institutions in Indonesia are growing rapidly such as formal and informal
educations. Primagama Rambipuji and Ambulu Branches are of informal tutoring institutions in Jember
regency engaged in the service business. In order that each individual in the company can be motivated to
do his job properly, the motivation to work from the board is necessary. Work motivation discusses how
to encourage employees’ spirit at work, so they are willing to work hard by providing all their abilities
and skills to achieve the company goals. This can contribute to the implementation of the employees’
duties to be realized well. This research used explanatory method in order to determine the effect of work
motivation on spirit at work. The research was conducted at Primagama Rambipuji and Ambulu
Branches. The population in the research was also used as samples because of the small number of
subjects. Thus, the respondents in this researh were all educative employees of Primagama Rambipuji and
Ambulu branches in total of 43 people. Employees who were studied were focused only on educative
employees because Primagama engages in business in the field of educational services, the educative
employees have dominant roles for the business progress. The research used quantitative approach and
the analysis tool used was simple linear regression. Test results of coefficient test of simple linear
regression analysis showed that work motivation (X) had an effect on spirit of work (Y) of employee at
Primagama Rambipuji and Ambulu Branches.
