dc.description.abstract | Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic disease characterized by
hyperglycemia. Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the serious complications in diabetic
patients which can lead to lower extremity amputation. Diabetes mellitus exercise
is helpful for patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood circulation to
the legs by improving blood glucose control. The objective of this research was to
analyze the effect of diabetes mellitus exercise on the level of ulcus diabetic’s risk
in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Rambipuji Village of Rambipuji Sub-
District Jember Regency. This research employed randomized control group
pretest posttest design. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling
involving 30 respondents, devided into 15 respondens as intervention group and
15 respondens as control group. The independent variable is diabetes mellitus
exercise and dependent variable is ulcus diabetic risk. The diabetes mellitus
exercise was done three times a week with the total of 12 sessions within a month.
The data were analyzed using t dependent and t independent test with significant
level of α = 0.05. The results of research revealed a significant difference between
pretest and posttest either in intervention group (p=0.000) or in control group.
(p=0.029). However, the decrease of ulcus diabetic risk in the intervention group
was higher than in control group. Furthermore, t independent test showed a
significant different between intervention group and control group (p=0.047).
This result indicates that there is a significant effect of diabetes mellitus exercise
on the level of ulcus diabetic risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Nurse
is expected to apply diabetes mellitus exercise as one of interventions to prevent
ulcus diabetic complication in diabetes mellitus patient. | en_US |
