PENGARUH LIPOPOLISAKARIDA TERHADAP WAKTU ERUPSI GIGI PADA TIKUS
Abstract
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated the increasing of numbers and activity of osteoclast that caused bone resorption. In tooth eruption processing was always preceded by bone resorption on coronal of tooth germ, to form eruption canal. The aim of this study was to know the effect of LPS on tooth eruption times. Fourteen male Wistar rats, five days of age, were divided into two groups. The first group was as control that conducted no treatment. The second group was as a treatment group that was inducted by LPS on buccal fold of right maxillary first molar. Each group was divided into four sub groups to decapitate at age of 9, 12, 17 and 21 days. After the rats were decapitated, conducted x-ray photo on right maxillary to examine the phase of eruption and measured length of tooth crown that has emerged alveolar bone. Both of the examinations were used to analyze tooth eruption times. The result of this study showed that the phase of tooth eruption and length of tooth crown that have emerged alveolar bone were significantly different (p<0.05) between the treated subjects. The group underwent LPS induction has the phase of tooth eruption and length of crown that has emerged alveolar bone was higher than control group. The conclusion was that LPS caused premature eruption that was showed by its high phase of tooth eruption and its length of tooth crown that has emerged alveolar bone.
