Leprosy eradication is one of the government's efforts in improving people’s welfare in the
field of health. The successful implementation of leprosy eradication program requires
community members’ participation. Participation is important for the achievement of relationship
between government and society, so this can provide a positive impact to government and
society. The purpose of this research was to identify the participation of ex-leprosy patients in the
implementation of leprosy eradication program at Health Department of Nganjuk. This research
used qualitative approach with descriptive design. Informants were determined by purposive
sampling, by interviewing 8 people. Data in this research were primary data obtained by
conducting interviews and participant observation and secondary data gained from documents.
Techniques to examine the data validity applied triangulation method. Data analysis in this
research used interactive analysis method. The forms of participation were: providing
information to officers and giving support to other patients in the process of recovery. In finding
new patients, officers and ex-leprosy patients did not mention the term “leprosy” or “suspected
leprosy sufferer” but the term “phlegm Hansen” to find it easy to make the suspected patients
understand.
