homeplaces. Their main goal is to search for wealth, but some are looking for
knowledge. By migrating they hope that they will gain prestige and honor in their
matrilineal custom environment. The driving factors for migration is matrilinear
culture that has positioned women as the heirs and give no inheritance rights for male
as individuals. Other factors include economic and warfare ones. The pull factors of
for migration include new moral and material benefits in the migration destination
places. The impact of their migration activity are the emergence of overseas
Minangkabau people in a variety of professions and expertise such as politicians,
