dc.description.abstract | Behaviors of Clean and Healthy Living are health behaviors which implemented
on the basis of consciousness to help themselves, one of which is a clean hand
washing using soap. The identification of determinants that affect hand washing,
can be used framework of Focus, Opportunity, Ability, and Motivation (FOAM).
Four determinants provide motivation to wash hands with soap are the attitude
and belief, expectation, threats and intentions. The purpose of this research was
to analyze The Effect of Health Education with Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE)
Method toward students motivation of hand washing using soap at SMPN 1
Ajung District Jember. Design used pre experiments with one group pre test post
test. Sampling method used simple random sampling with number of samples were
56 respondents. Data were analyzed with the Wilcoxon test. Pretest result showed
98,2% of respondents have sufficient motivation and 1,8% of respondents have a
good motivation. Postest result showed 73,2% of respondents have sufficient
motivation and 26,8% have a good motivation. Wilcoxon statistical results
obtained p value = 0,000 (p value < α =0,05), which means there was effect of
health education with RTE method on students motivation of hand washing using
soap at SMPN1 Ajung District Jember. The researcher suggest the school to do
Rotating Trio Exchange method to motivate washing hand using soap among
