THE EFFECT OF USING EUROTALK FLASHCARDS SOFTWARE ON THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT AT SMP NEGERI 2 AMBULU IN THE 2013/2014 ACADEMIC YEAR
Abstract
This research had two kinds of data, namely primary data and secondary
data. The primary data were gained through the vocabulary test, and the
supporting data were gained through interview and documentation. The primary
data was analyzed by using SPSS software computerized statistical method. The
result of the analysis showed
Based on the computation of the t-test formula, it shows that the mean
scores of control class is 86,29 and the mean scores of experimental class is 85,28.
The previous score of control class was 74,56 and the score of experimental class
was 74,24 and in the control class, the mean scores of the students’ vocabulary
test is increased from 74.56 to 86.29. It also happened to the experimental class,
the mean scores of the students’ vocabulary test is increased, from 74.24 to 85.28.
The value of sig column of the post-test is greater than 0.05 that is 0.446.
So, the researcher can conclude that there is no statistically significant difference
between experimental and control groups or there is no significant effect between
those two groups.
Based on the discussion above, it can be concluded that the result of this
research showed that the application of Eurotalk Flashcard Software did not give
positive effect to the students’ vocabulary achievement of the seventh grade
students of SMP N 2 Ambulu. Thus, the use of Eurotalk Flashcard Software was
not an effective way to teach English vocabulary as a teaching technique at SMP
N 2 Ambulu Jember.
