dc.description.abstract | The growth of the elderly population is increases every year in Indonesia. It
had an impact on the physiological and psychological changes that vary form one
to another. Such changes, can increase stress levels in elderly so it needs family’s
emotional support. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation
between the family’s emotional support with the stress levels of elderly in Karang
Werda Sumbersari, Sumbersari, Jember. This study used observational analytic
design with cross sectional design with a sample of 46 respondents. Collecting
data using a questionnaire and analyzed using chi square test. Method of
collecting samples is purposive sampling. Based on the research results are that
67.4 % of elderly get a well family’s emotional support and 58.7% are the elderly
in Karang Werda Sumbersari get a mild stress levels. Results of statistical
analysis showed that the p value = 0.015 and α = 0.05, which indicates there is a
significant correlation between the family’s emotional support with the stress
levels of elderly in Karang Werda Sumbersari, Sumbersari, Jember. Nurses can
perform proper nursing care management by stress disorder in the elderly that
includes primary, secondary, and tertiary’s prevention. | en_US |
