dc.description.abstract | Tofu industry wastewater its contain high levels of BOD and COD was result in losses in
terms of aesthetics, environment and health. Zeolites which function as ion exchangers,
molecular sleves, catalysts and adsorbents can be used to reduce levels of COD and
BOD. This research aims to analyze the differences in BOD and COD levels in tofu
wastewater which was not given zeolite and that was. The method used was true
experimental design with Posttest Only Control Group Design and RAK. Hypothesis
testing used one way ANOVA with á= 0.05%. The research results showed that X1
(tofu wastewater which was given zeolite with concentration of 212.5 g/0,25L for 2
hours) was able to reduce BOD level by 1377.7 mg/l (45.2%) and COD levels by
1550 mg/l (41.8%). X2 (tofu wastewater which was given zeolite with concentration of
225 gr/0,25L for 2 hours) could reduce BOD level by 1565 mg/l (51.4%) and COD
level by 1876.6 mg/l (50.6%). X3 (tofu wastewater given zeolite with concentration of
237.5 gr/0,25L for 2 hours reduce BOD level by 1828.7 mg/l (60.1 %) and COD level
by 2113.3 mg/l (56.9%). There was a significant (p< 0.05) difference levels of BOD
control with group X1 (p=0.008), X2 (p=0.002) dan X3 (p=0.000). There was a
significant (p< 0.05) difference levels of COD control with group X1 (p=0.018), X2
(p=0.004) and X3 (p=0.001). However, there are weaknesses in research it was presence
of aeration on research procedures. X3 was the treatment group which most reduced
BOD and COD levels in tofu wastewater. For further research, Needs a modification with
additional of aeration process, effective time and term use of zeolites, effective diameter of
zeolite and controls on aeration process. For related institutions expected to provide tofu
industry knowledge and training about waste processing. | en_US |
