PENGARUH PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI LAVENDER TERHADAP TINGKAT KECEMASAN PADA PASIEN PRA OPERASI DI RUMAH SAKIT DAERAH dr. SOEBANDI JEMBER
Abstract
Surgery was an invasive procedure which done to get rid of certain part or take
out an extraneous thing within the body. The foremost problem which was
possible to appear from the patient with this pre-operattive phase was anxiety.The
pre-operative anxiety was an anticipation respond toward an experience that
considered by the patient as a threat. Lavender aromatherapy was one of non
pharmacological treatment to cure the anxiety used the odor of fragrant plant.
The molecules of lavender oil extract are believed possessing sedative effect and
antidepressant which affect the one’s felling and emotion. The purpose of this
study was to compare the anxiety levels to patient anxiety within pre operative
before and after given lavender aromatherapy. The design of this study was pre
experimental research with one group pretest and posttest. This research uses 32
respondents as sample. The results indicate that the level of anxiety before given
lavender aromatherapy shows 100% respondents experienced anxiety. After the
lavender aromatherapy, 81,3% respondents have decreased levels of anxiety. The
analyzed used Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with 95% CI (α:0,05) got p-value
0,000 < α (0,05) as the result. The conclusion from this research that lavender
aromatherapy has a significant effect toward the level of anxiety pre-operative.
Based on the research, lavender aromatherapy can be used as a nurse
intervention by making the standard operational procedure (SOP) about lavender
aromatherapy to solve the anxiety problem.
