dc.description.abstract | Medical waste management at the health center in Jember have obstacles, they are
the accumulation of waste at times, the role of officers has not been implemented in
accordance with the duties and functions of each subject so that there is still a waste
that has not been handled seriously and the medical waste management in the health
center still cannot be called perfect due to the lack of existing infrastructure. The type
of this research is analytical survey. Sampling method in this study is cluster
sampling technique, with the number of PSU (Primary Sample Unit) of 7 health
centers with a number of samples as many as 17 nurses and 10 staff of waste
management (cleaning service). The data obtained were analyzed using the Mann
Whitney and Spearmen test with α = 0.05. The study results showed that there is
significant relationship between knowledge of the staff with the implementation of the
medical waste management, for the nursing staff with p value = 0.037, as for the staff
of waste management (cleaning service) with p value = 0.010; there is significant
relationship between the attitude of the staff with the implementation of the medical
waste management, for the nursing staff with p value = 0.010, as for the staff of
waste management (cleaning service) with p value = 0.035; there are differences
in the implementation of medical waste management by the staff between urban and
rural health centers, for the nursing staff with p value = 0.016, as for the staff of
waste management (cleaning services) with p value = 0.036. Based on these results,
it is expected that the health center in Jember provide guidance,
counseling, and supervising to the staff in the implementation of medical waste
management, particularly in improving the knowledge and attitudes of the staff in the
implementation of an appropriate medical waste management regulations. | en_US |
